UNICREDS (University Collaborations in Regional Development Spaces) was a three year project looking at how different models of higher education can benefit regional economic development. Read our final report: University Partnerships for Prosperity which contains the project's findings.
The project aimed to transform regions with underperforming economies into centres of research and innovation, through the creation of a new toolkit for economic development based on the triple helix model. At the heart of the model is the interaction between universities, government organisations and the private sector.
The project involved partners from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Sweden and the UK and was majority funded by the EU via the ERDF and the INTERREG IVC programme, in addition to co-financing from each of the 15 partner institutions.
